After being postponed earlier in the year, the 5th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture and Reception is back! On Wednesday, October 1, join the Black Student Union, the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), and Student Development and Campus Activities (SDACA) as they bring actor, director, producer, and activist Danny Glover to Pace’s NYC Campus.

This year’s theme, Pursuing Our Purpose through Social Justice and Civic Engagement, will feature a keynote address by actor, director, producer, and activist Danny Glover.

You may know Danny Glover from his successful 30+ year career in TV and film, playing Roger Murtaugh in the blockbuster Lethal Weapon franchise, Nelson Mandela in the TV movie Mandela, and Albert Johnson in The Color Purple, but Glover is more than just a Hollywood star.

Glover, who was invited to speak because of his humanitarian and philanthropic efforts in the U.S. and internationally, has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program focusing on poverty, disease, and economic development in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and is currently a UNICEF Ambassador. He also co-founded Louverture Films, dedicated to the development and production of films of historical relevance, social purpose, commercial value and artistic integrity. Glover will discuss the importance of finding your purpose through social justice, civic engagement, and volunteerism.

The event, which will take place in the Schimmel Center from 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m., will be moderated by Professor Patricia Hinds. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
